  • Time: 9am-4pm
    9am-1p:  Various Activities: Art, Dance, Improv/Acting and Singing for Middle School students. And, Assisting as Camp Counselors to our younger campers for High School students
    1pm-4pm:
    Costume design and build for all Costume Camp Students

This camp program is designed for any student that has an interest in costume design. No previous experience is needed.

  • Over the course of the summer, students will have a fully immersive experience learning the essentials of costume design and how to create costumes for the theatre. As a group, led by professional designer Sophia April Grose, students will come up with a design for the show, work on building the costumes and running the performances backstage. The costume program will run concurrently with Village Arts Musical Theatre Camp. 
    Middle School Costume students
    will participate in the morning classes: Art, Dance, Improv/Acting and Singing,  then continue to costume designing and building in the afternoon.
    High School Costume students will participate as camp counselors to our younger campers during the morning classes, then continue to costume designing and building in the afternoon.

Sophia April Grose

Sophia April Grose is a BFA design graduate from the University of Southern California, having an array of experience from theatrical costume design, film preproduction experience for costumes, and costume construction. Her recent costume design credits include Valley of Light at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, How It’s Gon’ Be directed by Ahmed Best (Echo Theatre Company), and Village Arts’ two most recent productions, Trolls Jr. and Frozen.
