Classes and workshops where students learn, engage and have fun! Our classes are small and are split up to ensure a safe environment and personal attention!

All Village Arts programs take place at Village Arts space on the campus of Faith Presbyterian Church of Valley Village

MONDAY Classes

Grade: 1st-2nd

  • Mondays: Jan. 23 - March 20 (No class on Jan. 16 & Feb 20 due to holidays)
  • Time: 3pm-4pm
Ms. Pam brings her years of experience to create a fun and immersive class that gently allows young children to ignite their imaginations and play. Kids explore drama through a diverse and playful dramatic curriculum designed to stimulate their creativity, increase their confidence, and promote connection with classmates in a safe and nurturing environment.

Grades:3rd-5th

  • Time: 4:00PM – 5:00PM
Village Arts long time dance teacher and choreographer Jodie Patterson, along with her daughter, Jenae Patterson, return to Village Arts with their wonderful dance team program. Ms. Jodie developed her Dance Team program when Jenae was a student at Colfax. Her program allows all kids to discover the joys of dance and expression, and working as an ensemble. Students will have the chance to perform at the Village Arts Talent Show, The Colfax Faire, senior homes and more.

  • Time: 4pm-5pm
Ms. Pam has designed this course for the older elementary student. During the eight week session, kids explore drama through a diverse and playful dramatic curriculum designed to stimulate their creativity, increase their confidence, and promote connection with classmates in a safe and nurturing environment. Kids will learn improvisation, play theatre games, and start work with character and text work to develop a stronger understanding of acting.

Tuesday Makers Day With rediscover.org at Village Arts!

We're excited to be working with reDiscover.org, a non-profit center in Santa Monica. Their mission is: To develop children's creativity through hands-on making with sustainable materials.
They will be co-teaching these fun workshop at Village Arts!

  • Tuesday: Jan. 17 - March 7
  • Time: 2:00PM – 3:00PM
Make masks, helmets, bracelets, wings, and more - out of cardboard! Cardboard is a tremendously versatile and accessible building material. With reDiscover Center’s tools and techniques, kids can build big, strong, amazing costume pieces. Transform into a wild animal, dive into the past, and explore new worlds. New costume themes and activities each week.

Come make awesome stuff with us! Students will gain the skills they need to work confidently to design and build creations as wild as their imaginations. reDiscover Center Facilitators teach a mix of design, art, engineering, and woodworking activities. Classes include skills building, safe tool use, projects, and open build time. This hands-on, minds-on workshop is fun and creative!

Grade 1st-2nd

  • Wednesday: Jan. 18 - March 8
  • Time: 3:00PM – 4:00PM
Let’s play! Theatre games, creating stories, and more. This class is designed to allow the 1st and 2nd graders to discover the inspiration that comes from creative play, which naturally leads to the joys of creating together. Physical movement, clowning, costumes, props, etc., are used to help ignite each child’s imagination to develop silly characters and stories as they work together.

  • Wednesday: Jan. 18 - March 8
  • Time: 4:00PM – 5:00PM
Students will learn basic photography concepts such as light, subject, composition, and creative editing in fun and creative ways. Each week the students will participate in hands-on lessons designed to engage and inspire the art of Photography.

Thursday Art Day!

Dates: Jan. 19 – March 9

  • THURSDAYS: January 19-March 9
  • TIME: 3:00 – 4:00PM
Village Arts and Colfax Charter's art teacher, Mrs. Klace, bring her warm spirit and humor to create an art class for all students. The emphasis of this class will be on creating works in both clay and other materials. Each class Ms. Klace provides the students with a prompt that will inspire students to explore the various mediums she introduces. The class will alternate with working in clay and other materials.

  • THURSDAYS: January 19-March 9
  • TIME: 4:00 – 5:00PM

Get your funny bones primed and your creative comedy chops sharpened as a seasoned sketch comedy performer, and teacher Dwayne Colbert creates a class for students that love to play, create and make people laugh! With these classes, students will take the journey of creating original sketch comedy – starting with simple improv and then developing their own sketches. Students will learn the basics of comedy structure and form that allow for the hilarious. These classes are part of Village Arts' plans to establish a sketch comedy student troupe where students will develop their material to be performed at Village Arts and beyond.

  • Fridays: Jan. 20 - March 10
