PROGRAM: Village Arts Theatre Camp is a four-week program where campers rehearse and perform an entirely produced musical. There will be multiple casts and each cast performs in two shows. Each day participants also enjoy workshops in improvisation, dance, visual art and singing.
NOTICE: There will be no songs, references or characterizations of Native Peoples in this production. The “Brave” Girls will be referred to as the “Rebel Girls” and appropriate songs will represent them.
Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, the fierce Rebel Girls, a band of bungling pirates and, of course, the villainous Captain Hook. Featuring the iconic songs, “I’m Flying,” “I’ve Gotta Crow,” “I Won’t Grow Up” and “Never Never Land,” and a rousing book full of magic, warmth and adventure, Peter Pan JR. is the perfect show for the child in all of us.
Comedy Camp introduces kids to the work of some of the most influential comedy icons like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, Each day kids play tons of improv games and do theater based exercises designed to help them develop and practice their comedic skills. We explore character walks and voices, funny physicality, spit takes, double takes, slow burn takes, prat falls, extreme reactions, deadpan, exaggerated emotions, running gags, absurdity, and parody. Kids also draw signature comic characters and invent worlds around them. We also create and share sketches every day. During the week, we will also make and film commercial parodies, song parodies, and a short silent film together.
